Is there a password for the ‘root’ account?
(I mean by default, on a RTP fresh installation)
If so, what is it?
If not, then I can’t (as dumb as it sounds) login in
I tried at both the ‘dialog box’ and at the ‘command line’

Did you type root as the username ?
By default, there’s no password for the root account.

Okay, here’s the secret, if you can call it that…
Yes, by DEFAULT there is no password to root
HOWEVER, during the install, you DO get asked to set the password.
What obviously happened - I installed one late night, set a password, went
to bed. Ran the software the next night, forgetting that I had set a
password.
Solution: de-install and re-install
Comment: De-install worked smoothly and painless.
