MSN?

Is there anyway to connect to MSN with QNX? The problem seems to be with
authentication, do I need to activate some arcane command option somewhere?
Or will it just not work?

Yes there is…
Set Phdialer for an interactive session (Note this will NOT work if you just
let it do CHAP)…

A cut and paste from a previous post

FYI
MSN does NOT require SPA to connect!
Though it still will not connect in QNX!!!

(BeOS does not support SPA and these instructions work for BeOS and my
Newton MP2100, as well as my Palm)

For the curious…
How to install MSN as a dialup provider…

  1. Get an access number from your windoze partition…

  2. Set up a dialer profile as you would for any other DHCP connection…

  3. when prompted for a username, use MSN/
(THIS IS CASE SENSITIVE for the prefix)

  4. Connect as any other provider, and use your normal MSN dialup password

See MS KB Q166090 MSN Support in Windows NT for more information

I don’t have an MSN accoount to try out, so this is for general
speaking. Most provider out there choosing PAP/CHAP as their
default authentication, and I believe that’s the default of Windows XX.

If looks strange that MSN need an interactive login, instead of
using PPP authentication. (they even invented MS-CHAP themself !

However, if you can interactive login, then you can using phdialer’s
“script” to automate the interactive login.

This doesn’t work. Dials into the backbone beautifully but will not
connect up to MSN.
