Can anyone help me out while I attempt to hook up w/ a networked printer?
So far I have had no luck.
I modified my printcap file to include:
HP8100:
:lp=:
:rm=stp-prnt-004:
:rp=stp809691p:
:mx#0:
:sd=/usr/spool/hp8100:
:lf=/usr/spool/errors:
I run lpd, but it does not spawn a process. So when I run lpr it says
“Please start lpd.” Well I just did run lpd, and it did not complain about
a problem.

Just checking: Are you running Socket in the machine where you are trying to
run lpd ? It look like a problem with TCP/IP in the machine.
Can you give more information about this? I had the same problem before and
I could fix it.
