Migration Guide and Utility

I have recently installed RTP on my PC (Running windows NT with a FAT
partition on the drive for RTP. I downloaded the migration guide and
the migration utliity on the and followed the directions on the web site
in order to install them.

During the installation of each, I encountered problems when using the
cp
command.

migration guide:

cp -v mig4nto.doc.tar.gz /usr/help/product yields the following

can’t open destination file (/usr/help/product//mig4nto.doc.tat.gz)
note the two slashes. I was logged on as root. The /usr/help/product
directory belongs to the sys group. The id command lists that the root
incudes this group (sys).

migration utility:

cp -v /mig4nto/nto/x86/o/mig4nto
/usr/bin yields the following

can’t open destination file (/usr/bin//mig4nto) note the two slashes
again. I was logged on as root. The /usr/bin directory belongs to the
bin group. The id command lists that the root incudes this group (bin).

Any suggestions?

Thank you.

Dan Szymanski

I had a similar problem with /usr/help/product being flagged as read only.
I remember reading somewhere that pkg-installer had a buglet from one of the
DDKs. It said that if you remove the DDKs then /usr/help/product would no
longer be marked read only.

I haven’t tried this.

Bill,

What is a DDK and how would I go about removing one?

Thank you.

Bill,

According to my recollection, the /usr/help/product directory was not marked
with read only permissions.

Thank you.

The DDKs are the device developers kits. You can remove them by going into
pkg-installer, saying View My Software, going to the DDK and then removing
them.n NOTE: deactivating them is insufficient.

Go back into the pgk-installer and re-download them. But wait until they
(QSSL) claim that they’ve fixed the package.

QSSL, any word on this?

Bill,

Thank you. This seemed to to the trick. What would I have to do if I
want to
re-install any of these kits at a later time?

Thank you.
