Hello,
As is often asked in the Newsgroup, I would like any advice or expereiences
with running qnx rtp (6.x) on a laptop. I have had my share of problems and
before I buy another one, I humbly request your advice. Of course chipsets
change in simiilar /same models, so it is nearly impossible to advise that a
particular laptop is the one, but I need a couple good starting points. Then
I can try those out and work from there.
If you have any particular experience, good or bad, with running rtp on your
laptop, please send a quick follow up to this post.
Thanks
I have been using Acer Travelmates with success in the past. However, as
you noted, things are always changing in the realm of laptops. Some things
I would avoid are hot-swapping CDROMs and docking stations. Sometimes these
things work without OS intervention, sometimes they do not.
One option would be to burn a copy of NC onto a CDROM and take it down
to CompUSA or BestBuy and try out QNX. You would quickly know if your
hardware is supported or not.

Hi…
Gateway laptops may give you problems. So will some Sonny laptops. This
is my experience.

Miguel.
