How do I setup my cable modem / router?

I just installed QNX v6.2 and am wondering how to setup DHCP? I have a
cable modem and a Linksys Etherfast DSL /Cable Router.

Anyone know of a good website tutorial for setting something like this up?
I’d like to get the web access and e-mail setup, but cannot until I get QNX
setup to recognize the cable modem and router first.

Thanks,
Dale

I have the same setup - it’s completely automatic, as long as your network
card is recognised.
Just click “DHCP” instead of “Manual” in phlip and you’re on your way. If it
doensn’t work,
your network card is probably not supported.

I have a Linksys LNE-100TX ethernet card. I think it’s fairly popular.
Where can I find a list of compatable NIC’s?

Thanks,
Dale

Hello Dale,

You can find a list of our supported hardware on our website found at
http://www.qnx.com/support/sd_hardware/
Another way that you can check to see if the card is detected and started is
by running ‘pidin mem | grep -i devn’. If you have a driver returned from
that command then you know that the device has been detected and the driver
is started.

I hope this helps.

Regards,
Dave B.

Another way as well is to run the utility:

nicinfo

from the command line. It will yield helpful information about your network
card (if the driver is running).

E.g.

SMC9432 EPIC Ethernet Controller
Physical Node ID … 00E029 24FAD2
Current Physical Node ID … 00E029 24FAD2
Media Rate … 100.00 Mb/s full-duplex UTP
MTU … 1514
Lan … 0
I/O Port Range … 0xB000 → 0xB0FF
Hardware Interrupt … 0x9
Promiscuous … Disabled
Multicast … Enabled

Total Packets Txd OK … 236290
Total Packets Txd Bad … 0
Total Packets Rxd OK … 557528
Total Rx Errors … 0

Total Bytes Txd … 25922578
Total Bytes Rxd … 120597088

Tx Collision Errors … 0
Tx Collisions Errors (aborted) … 0
Carrier Sense Lost on Tx … 0
FIFO Underruns During Tx … 0
Tx deferred … 0
Out of Window Collisions … 0
FIFO Overruns During Rx … 0
Alignment errors … 0
CRC errors … 0
bash-2.05a$

From there you can either use phlip or just run:

dhcp.client

from the command line and it should get you going.

Best regards,

Erick.
