ph doesn't start

Hi,

I installed QNX from CD (iso download) on an own partition. Everthing worked
fine
till first real boot-up. I always get stuck with:

mode_init: No such device or address
devi-hirun kbd fd -d/dev/kbd

When selecting option 1 at boot-up (when hitting space) i’m able to log in
as root into
the text-based shell. Working with the shell causes no troubels but when I
want to
start python by entering ph I get the same error as above (same result with
ph -s).
After some time the cursor reappears but i’m not able to enter anything.

I’d glad if someone could give me a hint (the 1.44MB disk demo worked fine
on the
exact same system).

bye,
Tom

What type of system and video card do you have?
Could you post the output of pci -v.

Hi,

What type of system and video card do you have?
Could you post the output of pci -v.

The whole output would be a little long - so here is the part about the
video-card:

Class = Display (VGA)
Vendor ID = 102ch, Chips And Technologies
Device ID = e4h, 65554 Flat Panel/LCD CRT GUI Accelerator
PCI index = 0h
Class Codes = 030000h
Revision ID = c2h
Bus number = 0
Device number = 4
Function num = 0
Status Reg = 280h
Command Reg = 83h
Header type = 0h Single-function
BIST = 0h Build-in-self-test not supported
Latency Timer = 0h
Cache Line Size = 0h
Mem Address = fe000000h 32bit length 16777216 enabled
Max Lat = 0ns
Min Gnt = 0ns
PCI int Pin = NC
Interrupt line = 0

I tested once again the 1.44mb demo disk and there the gui works fine. I’m
not sure
if I’ve already mentioned but the machine is a Toshiba 230CX laptop but
since the
demo workes fine, the full version should do as well, shuldn’t it?
I’d be glad if you could help me!

bye,
Tom

Well welcome home. the same problem as here.

I have the same problem here. Do you have an estimated time for this
problem ?
You will provide a patch or how can we upgrade our systems after this ?

Hi,

Could you the output of ‘crttrap -VV trap’?

sure. entering ‘crttrap -VV trap’ returns the following line:

/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-chips_hiqv.so -I0 -d0x102c,0x00e4 -
V

after that the machine stops totally and i’ve to reboot.

This won’t help with your video problem, but I think that the mouse driver
is starting OK, and taking over your keyboard… that’s why you can’t enter
anything.

Try hitting all at the same time, and you may
at least get your keyboard back.

Works very well - thanks for the hint.
I hope there will be a fix for the ‘toshiba-problem’ soon!

How can we disable photon at boot time ?

I have checked on /etc/system/sysinit and rc.d/rc.sysinit but with no
success.

Type:

touch /etc/system/config/nophoton

and reboot.
