Russel,
I guess “std” is poor choice of words; ultraDMA 66 is very popular interface
for developers and power users; I guess Std does not equal popular, although I
thought that this whole computer revolution was brought on by “non-standard”
h/w.
I also understand QSSL’s problem !! and what a problem it is !! QSSL Keep
working on the problem - from all accounts you have done a great job thus far!
Just go the extra mile !!

Look under file systems.
I submitted a bug report on this to QSSL and on Oct 3, received a response
ultraDMA 66from Charles Lawrence, who said “This is an issue that they are
working on
right now - please monitor and participate in our newsgroups at nntp.qnx.com
and you will know as soon as we do.”
nntp.qnx.com seems to be a developers newsgroup, but this one should mirror
it, I presume.

Russell,
I guess I’m joining the crowd : This sounds like my problem as well. I
have an
ultraDMA 66 interface, while my HD is a 15 GB Maxtor. What is it that QNX
supports ? ? This is a fairly (i thought) std machine !!!

Ultra
AT66, (HD is 13.6 GB 7200 rpm Ultra ATA) is not supported by qnx and he
doesn’t know when they will support it. Perhaps that’s your problem?

I would understand if I had some weird computer system, but I think my
setup
is pretty mainstream, after all, Windows works on it! > > I’m
surprised at
QNX since their floppy disk demo is so impressive, highly optimised,
and
just plain cool! But I don’t understand how their compact “embedded”
OS
can
bloat into 25Mb. Maybe that’s just the Quake files bundled into the
archive?
Thanks for telling me the CD doesn’t work either. You’ve saved me a
looong
download.
Best regards,
Gary.

Hi Gary: Join the crowd, including me. See earlier thread
“Problems
booting.” I’ve given up on both the CDROM and qnxrtp.exe approach,
both
installing into a Windows file and into a partition. I’m hoping QNX
(Steve
Tomkins) can provide a fix. My system is like yours. I have a 13
GB HD
LBA
enabled with a single partition.

I just downloaded the release version of RTP and installed from
Windows
following the prompts and rebooted. I selected QNX OS from the
Win98
boot
menu and after 20 seconds this error appeared:
Warning: /pkgs/base/safe-config/etc/system/package/packages
doesn’t
seem
to
exist.
Can’t access package config.
Unable to access packages.
I tried booting from the floppy the install created and also the
non-DMA
option. Both also produced this error.
My setup: Windows98SE, Pentium III 550mhz, Gigabyte BX
motherboard,
192Mb
RAM, Promise FastTrak 66 RAID in mirror mode, nvideo Riva 128 gfx
card.
Thanks,
Gary.
