can't install RtP: "Unable to access /cd//boot/fs"

I can’t seem to get this RtP installed from the CD (created from downloaded
ISO image).

I’ve tried both booting from the CD, and from the floppy it created. Both
go so far as creating a partition (1/4 of empty 8G drive = 2014M) on the
primary master IDE drive, Then showing the screen below.

I’ve also tried moving the drives around in the system… My CD/DVD ROM was
originally the Secondary Slave, and the LS-120 “superfloppy” was the primary
slave. I’ve also tried unplugging the whole secondary IDE cable from the
motherboard and booting from the CD. Again, I got the screen below (minus
the 3 lines starting w/ “Path=1”, of course).

Any insights?

Here’s the install screen that I get stuck at:

Restarting driver and mounting filesystems…
Executing devb-eide blk auto=partition

This is not the only possible answer. but from my own personal experience, I
have seen similar problems if the CD is not created properly.
(Yes, I know, it boots from the CD - not enough evidence, unfortunately!)
The CD must be created from the *.iso file, using the “Disk at Once” method.
The CD must also be “closed off”

Exactly how I created the disc, using Adaptec Easy CD Creator 4. I will try
another disc though, and post if it is successful. Thanks for replying
Steve!

Any other possibilities?

This is probably not it, but I finally just installed the RTP on a spare
drive.
I got the same error while trying to install. It was because I didn’t read
the screen
carefully - It asked me which CDrom drive I was going to install from - but
it listed
them in reverse order - I chose (1) instead of (2) - I rebooted and read it
the second
time - Bingo!

I unplugged the Creative DVD-ROM drive and swapped in a “CD-40X-MITSUMI”,
and it got past that error screen and installed to the hard drive.

Now it doesn’t seem to boot, but it’s some different problem.

First time I tried booting from the hdd, I got lots of ? marks between the
periods, and eventually it just kept adding ???'s without periods.

I rebooted and pressed [ESC] and now it shows me a low-res, low-color
“Welcome to QNX…” screen, but it just shows “Waiting for input driver…”.

Maybe it doesn’t like my “Microsoft IntelliMouse with IntelliEye”, plugged
into a PS/2 port. (It has a USB connector and that is connected to a
USB->PS/2 adaptor that came w/ the mouse.) Nope, same problem w/ a Logitech
ps/2 mouse.

Same problem w/ BIOS settings: UDMA disabled, and PIO/DMA modes set to 2/0
(I’m guessing this is DMA=off.)

Trying [ESC] [Space] 61 [Enter]
OK, I can get the command line. Then typing PH failed (couldn’t
initialize some font-doohickey, suggests Photon not installed correctly).
SIN says it’s running, so type PH again, and am left sitting at a lo-color
RtP logo, but nothing else (like cursor or console window).

What’s next: Now how can I fix it or diagnose the problems? Try a
different hard-drive? Have to get a different computer altogether? Some
command-line magic to tell me what failed?

All I had to do was use a different hard drive, along w/ the CD-ROM drive.
It booted right up into the GUI. Thanks again everyone who replied!

Just out of curiosity, what kind of hard drive was it that wasn’t
working?

I don’t have it handy, but my 1st post of this thread, QNX detected a “WDC
AC310200R”. It was an 8.4Gig drive.

OK, I just plunked that number into www.wdc.com and got nothing. Then dug
deeper and found this page:
http://www.wdc.com/products/non-current/drives/ac310200.html If that’s the
drive I had, then it was really 10 gigs, which might indicate incorrect BIOS
auto-detect settings.

Hope this was helpful… sorry I don’t have more details.
