It has a ?standard? 1.44M external floppy. Probably the same as the one
associated with Hugh’s tecra 8000. - this is a tecra 750dvd

Erick – when building this floppy what driver did you use for the
floppy device? Could this laptop actually have an LS-120 floppy
and that might be causing a problem?

Hi Erick
Not much luck here - created the disk (actually using linux dd…) and
booted.
The messages were:
Range Check IO dev 701 failed
Range Check MEM dev 35 failed
Range Check MEM dev 46 failed (all of these as before)
Then:
Path 0 - i8272
target=0 lun=0 Direct-Access(0) - fdc i8272 Rev:

Press enter for a prompt
I received a prompt, but all commands including the pci -vvvv received
the following response:
no such device or address.
ls did not work either.
Hope this means something to you.

Hi Iain,
I have created a new boot floppy that should boot up on your system
if not please let me know (as I think I know what it is). You can
download this floppy from
staff.qnx.com/~emuis/
Download the “Bootable diskette for use of simple debugging with QNX RTP”
Along with the “Makedisk util”.
On a Windows system format a floppy diskette, then use the makedisk util
to copy the image to the floppy.
makedisk [image_filename] a:
Now boot from your laptop using this floppy, give it a couple of seconds then
you should be ready. I have placed pci util on the floppy simple type:
pci -vvvv > /pci_output
on the command prompt. Remove the floppy once the write is complete, then
on your desktop RTP system mount the floppy and copy over the pci_output
from the floppy then post it on here.
Thanks!
Erick.

Thanks
I have now got access to newsgroups at work as well (via the “please,
please, please …” technique.)
I’ll review the newsgroups in anticipation.

Hi Iain,
We can build you an image here that is going to use the pci utility
that then can retrieve the information that the developer requires.
This then can be relayed to the developer and can then be sorted out
to find out what the issue is.
I am working on the image now and will hopfully have it ready soon.
Erick.

I presume that this is caused by the actual cards and arrangement on the
notebook, but if anyone has any ideas…
I know it is not the media being used, because I was able to load up qnx
on a desktop with minimal difficulties.
Thanks
