X windows installation

I am having troubles installing X windows… Everything seems to go well,
but at the end of the Installation procedure it asks if I wish to compile
xterm.src (to which I say yes…) But then is says it was unable to start
various X windows drivers and ends. (I think it may be something with X
server…) My system is a standalone system right now, but may in the
future be hooked up with an NT server.

After things stopped I went on and used the configX program with the
Xgeneric driver for the Display …

Finally I looked at the “If you didn’t start necessary services” section of
the X windows configuration and installation manual and tried to start the
drivers.

Dev.pty (when I ran sin, I just have Dev32.pty), I ran through the other 3
steps, with little success…

So when I try to run startx … I get:

Starting int 10 emulator
Error opening console: Function not implemented
Error opening console: Function not implemented
Error opening console: Function not implemented
Error opening console: Function not implemented
Unable to start int 10 emulator
giving up
xinit No such file or directory (errno 2)
unable to connect to x server
xinit No such process (errno 3)
server error

Does anyone know what I missed, or where I could look?

Thanks
