Hi,
What I mean by a separate partition is a partition which is created by QNX
on install from the RTP
CD. If you are using the Windows self-installing package then this is not
possible, you must
install in you Windows FAT partition.
You have a few options:
-
If you installed WinME on a FAT partition, you can create a boot floppy
during the QNX installation
or after (option is in start menu->Programs->QNX Realtime
Platform->Make RTP boot Floppy).
You can use this floppy to boot into QNX RTP. (Insert floppy, turn on
Machine).
If you installed WinME on a NTFS partition QNX RTP will not work.
-
If you have access to a CD writter, you can download the RTP CD-ROM
image, and create the RTP CD.
You can then boot off of the RTP CD. The RTP install will start and you
can create a QNX
partition and install.
-
You could also place an order through the QNX website
http://get.qnx.com/ > for a QNX RTP CD
(credit card required) and the CD would get shipped out to you.
I hope this information is helpful to you.

Hi joe
it is so kind of u

but could u give me a favor to expain
what is a “separtate” partition?
is it a partition without any filesystem
just like NTFS,FAT of efs2 etc.?
however, i have no QNX CD and i cant’t
buy it in China mainland.
i can only download a package of QNX
self-extractor program,and there are almost
no instructions but “next” buttons during the
installing progress.
is a floopy disk can do the same works like
a RTP CD?
if it is, how can i make it?
thax in advanced

Hi,
If you are trying to install QNX RTP using the windows installer on a
WinMe machine you
will run into problems.
-
If you installed WinME using NTFS partition you will not be able to
install RTP
on that partition.
-
If you installed WinME with a FAT partition QNX RTP will install,
but
you will need
to use a boot floppy to boot into RTP. This is because WinME does
not
have a
config.sys which QNX uses to create a boot menu.
If you do not want to use a boot floppy to get into RTP then you must
install RTP onto a separtate
partition. To do this boot off the RTP CD and follow the install
instructions.

Hi,Joe
1st. thax for ur Re.
i’am afraid ican’t say it clearly, anyway i try.
There have been 3 different OS on my 2 HDs (Quantum Fireball 6.4GB &
WD
500MB)
before this century.
At that time year 2000, my 2 HDs have been partitioned into 2 kinds
of
filesystem,
one was for win98 the other was for linux. 500MB WD fixed disk was a
part of
DOS
logic partition, the space has been used to install QNX RTP.
The primary partition C has been installed with win98
linux was in good health
unfortunately, by PattitionMagic 5.0 i have had my patitions resized,
and
then the
whole system fall into strange condition.
finaly i have had to Fdisk my C and installed winME
o’cause the lilo and QNX start menu was gone.
so the problem i’ve post was come.
BTW:
1, before i fidk my C, i’ve re-installed QNX several times.
2, linux cant be installed also
3, i download the RTM .exe and try installing it under winME
BEST REGARDS
&
HAVE A GOOD DREAM

Hi,
Could you provide some more information on the configuration of
windows,
partition types etc.
Also how are you installing RTP?
The more information you provide the greater the chances of finding
a
resolution to your problem.
