RMEM failed

Hello all,

Well, I’ve downloaded QNXRTP.EXE, and tried to install it (on a Win98
machine), and not got too far…

The boot sequence tells me “Reserve RMEM failed”. It then successfully
detects the EIDE, and says “Unable to mount filesystem on
/fs/hd0-dos-qnxbase.qfs (No such file or directory)”, and then “Unable
to start devc-con”.

Does anybody know what’s going on? I haven’t a clue.

Thanks for any help,

Arthur

The message “Reserve RMEM failed” is ok.
It is a bug, but not related to your problem.

Check your install & configuration on windows.
After startup of the system the Filesystem driver
tries to find the filesystem which is in a file
on windows.

Did you install, somewhere else instead “of c:\program files”?
Do you have multiple partitions?
Which kind of ide controller are you using?

Hi!

I have the same message “Reserve RMEM failed” with a complete standalone
installation (no windows!).

As this doesn’t seem to prevent anything from running properly, I didn’t pay
more attention on this.

What is the bug underlying? Is it potentially dangerous?

Thanks,
Didier.

Hi Didier,

This was a problem that effected patch A systems, upgrade to patch B
QNX RTOS v6.0.0B where this problem was fixed.

Erick.

Hi Sascha,

I installed in the default location, with a single partition.

I’ve since done a clean install (deleted Windows, wiped the hard disk
clean), and it all seems to function just fine.

I’m not sure what the problem was, but I’m running just fine now. Just
have to install Patch B…

Thanks,

Arthur
