Installing RTP 6.1.0 on a Thinkpad T22?

I am trying to get RTP installed on my new laptop, an IBM Thinkpad T22. I
have tried a variety of strategies to make this work but the best I can come
up with is after the partition is allocated and the basic files are copied
over, the first graphics (photon) screen pops up indicating that a NEW
graphics controller is detected. AT this point, the install program hangs -
no mouse or keyboard input is accepted. I really don’t need any fancy
graphics, just a command line interface to do SREC builds.

So, is there some setting that would enable a normal install? Can I somehow
skip the GUI component installation and just get the core RTOS?

I have installed on a desktop machine with the same CD cut from an ISO
image. That isn’t my problem.
I have tried installing in a Windows partition (running Win2kSP2).
I have tried installing in a logical native (qnx fs) partition.
I have tried installing in a proimary native (qnx fs) partition at the front
of the drive.

I already had RedHat Linux 7.1 and Windows 2000 on the machine, and the last
attempt to install RTP hosed by Linux root partition.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

JJC

Hi John,

When does it hang? right after you pick your gfx card? What happens
if you try running the vesabios driver? Does that help?

AFAIK you need the CD to install the products (compiler an libs).

Erick.

Erick,
After the setup files are copied onto the hard drive, it tries to boot into
the QNX configuration and and setup. The first thing I see is a graphics
selection GUI. At that point my keyboard and mouse are locked up and I
cannot do anything. I cannot even get to a shell prompt to do anything. I
tried installing under a Win2k drive/file and after I create the boot disk
and try to boot from that, the same thing happens. If I try the .altboot,
things just hang. I’cve run out of ideas and am fishing for new ones.

Thanks,
JJC

Same problem with Toshiba 3005-S303, what I did was reboot and it would

load into vga mode with no mouse. I then manually changed the vga driver to
the vesabios driver in the graphics control panel. Then I re-installed
devi-hirun from the QNX developers site (new files) and that fixed the mouse
problem. Now I got full 16 bit 1024x768 and mouse albeit a little slow
since there is no driver for my NVIDIA GeForce2Go. Hope this helps.

Joe

Thanks, Joe!
That did the trick - it’s a beautiful thing.
