Newbie RTP 6.1.0 Installation problems (hang + crttrap)

*** SPAM FILTER IN EFFECT, SEE END OF MESSAGE FOR REPLY ADDR ***

Hi

It’s been 5 years since I last played with QNX … Can anyone point me to installation
instructions for the freely downloadable RTP (get.qnx.com) ? The instructions at
http://get.qnx.com/faqs/update.html#install are amazingly lacking. I’m assuming there
are some more detailed instructions available online (I looked on www.qnx.com also)
but I’m just failing to find them ??

I’m trying to install onto an old Dell Dimension XPS Pro 200n (Pentium Pro 200)
with an 8GB IDE and the final A06 bios.

Installs OK from CD. Rebooting with CD removed, hangs (after several lines of “.”) unless
I press for the altboot (can this be made the default?). Is this a DMA issue?

Going with the altboot, after I get the following just before the root: login prompt:

/usr/bin/ph[153]: crttrap: not found
/usr/bin/ph[153]: crttrap: not found

After logging in as root I get a message to start the Photon system.

Running ‘ph’ generates the above two errors again followed by:
unable to start windowing kernel. Please check the installation instructions for
more information.

If I try to “find” crttrap, it’s located in /pkgs/base/qnx/ph/drivers-2.0.2/x86/usr/bin.
Is this supposed to be in the default PATH so ph can find it?

Video card is a Matrox Millenium which is in the supported hardware list. If anyone
can point me to the mystical “installation instructions” I’d be very appreciative.

Also, how (and when) does one run the package installer. The webpage
instructions ‘After Installation’ says to ‘Run the package Installer and select “QNX
WWW Repository”’. I was hoping for the path/command name and arguments.

Thanks
