Help. I cannot seem to get my USB devices working.

Hi All.

I got to know about QNX quite a long time back and find it amazing how QNX has not succumbed to the bloatware mentality of most companies nowadays. However goos a product is, it has certain
problems that may hamper it’s full deployment. I used to have a problem with the video driver crashing but the fixed driver from the developer’s site took care of that (I run it on my laptop)

The most serious problem now is that all USB support is not working… I tried to start devu-uhci or devu-ohci and it just gave me the error that USB controller not detected. I include my system information
below to those who are more well versed… (I’m a greenhorn at UNIX and especially QNX) Also, how do I get my PCMCIA slots to work?

Lastly, the Quake 3 Arena Demo packaged with the CD says that my hardware failed some compatibility test. I wonder if I could find out specifically what is wrong… I own an nVidia GeForce 2 Go, which is
powerful enough to run Quake 3 Arena on Windows ME, so I was wondering why it could not run on QNX…

Thanks in advance.

I’ll take a stab at the Quake issue…

Quake requires certain 3D runtime libraries under QNX that at present only
support the now defunct 3dfx Voodoo3 family of video boards. There has been
no official word one way or another whether or not QNX is proceeding with or
even intends to proceed with support for other boards, much less which
boards those might be. So the short answer is you’re out of luck with Quake
unless you can scrounge up some 3dfx boards.

I haven’t ventured into the USB world on QNX yet, I’m sure someone else will
be able to assist you there.

As for bloating, you should have seen QNX when you could install it off of
(5) 1.44MB diskettes. It’s a freakin’ monstrosity compared to those (good
ol’) days…
