Hanging on EIDE during boot

Hi all,

I am trying to install QNX (28 Meg ISO) on my Dell Dimension 8200. I can’t
get it to boot from CD-ROM for some reason, so I made a boot floppy.
However, it hangs on the “Detected EIDE. Scanning for devices.” message.
Below is the output when I select verbose mode:

Select? F6
Starting slogger -l /dev/text
Starting seedres
Starting pci-bios
Range check failed (IO) - Dev 244b - Vend 8086 - Class 10180 - Addr ffa0 -

target=1 lun=0 CD-ROM(5) - LITE-ON LTR-24102M Rev: 4DS2

And then it hangs… Does anyone have an idea what that “range check failed”
means, and how I might fix it?

Thanx,
Arjan.

Dave,

Well, it did help a bit. When I put the CD into the DVD drive (master of the
second EIDE channel) instead of the CDRW drive, it booted.

Still get the error from the EIDE driver though :frowning:

Arjan.

Hello Arjan,

Take a look at the knowledge base entry found at
http://qdn.qnx.com/support/bok/solution.qnx?10417
and see if that solves your problem.
