Installation and boot problems.

So I attempted to install the latest release of RTP (6.1.0) on my dual
processor Abit VP6. I have two 1 gig Pentium IIIs in it, with 640 megs
of RAM. Unfortunately, shortly after booting from the CD, I get:

Shutdown[0,0] S/C/F=11/1/11 C/D=ff80e517/ff841050 state(c0)= now lock
[0] PID-TID=1-17

It’s definately an SMP thing  If I pull out one of the two
processors, I can install it without any problems.

Even after installing, I have to leave the second processor out to then
get the machine to boot. Just in case, I’ve booted with just the one
processor, and then performed the update with the latest downloadable
patch. Unfortunately, I’m still having the same problem.

Any ideas?

So I find it kind of humourous that QNX recently gave a presentation in
Princeton, NJ about developing distributed, fault-tolerant, SMP systems,
yet RTP doesn’t seem to support one of the most common SMP motherboards
on the market  (Or perhaps it is supported, but how to get it working
is a secret)

AFAIK we do run on a Abit motherboard w/ dual CPU’s (I’ve seen it).

Plus SMP isn’t confined to x86, so to say that the AbitVP6 is one of “the
most common SMP motherboards” seems to be misleading.

Do you have the rest of the dump (stack info etc)?

Have you rebuild you boot image (or made a boot floppy) with the SMP
version of the procnto?
