restore .boot .altboot qnx4.25

OK.

A crash has left my .altboot and .boot files at zero length.

I have boot/image/hard.1. Can I recover these two files using
/boot/image/hard.1? and how can I tell my bootsector to load these
files. Lots of trouble in WTV land.

Thanks a ton WTV

WAIT A MINUTE!

I was just about to send the message below. However, as is typical of my I
wasn’t looking at the newsgroup. If your looking for an RTP boot image then
/boot/images/hard.1 most likely isn’t it. That would be the expected name
of a QNX4 boot image.

Yes, you should be able to. Just cp /boot/images/hard.1 to .boot of your
boot partition. Usually:
cp /boot/images/hard.1 /.boot

Yes,

I was able to do the copy like you suggested, but my bootstrap is messed up. I
tried hacking around using the QNX6.0 boot strap and it fired up, but the
process don’t seem to want to run. uname -a shows that the 6.0OS is running not
the 4.25 like I would expect.

Thanks for helping me with my troubles!!!

Time to go to that backup media that we all know your supposed to make every
so often.

(Oh Gee! My system isn’t backed up either. I have to go do a backup.)
