Installation problems - Toshiba 4340 laptop

I’ve been trying to install the RTP 6.1 on my laptop, a Toshiba Satellite
Pro 4340. Everything seems to go well, but when I try to boot into QNX, it
gets as far as running crttrap, then spins the floppy drive a few times, and
freezes. When it hangs, it disables the power and reset buttons, so I have
to pull the battery to resatrt it (obviously not a good thing).

I’ve come across mention of problems with 32-bit cardbus devices, so I tried
setting mine to CardBus/16-bit mode, but it went exactly the same – all is
well until it runs crttrap. (the line after “running crttrap” reads:
“/usr/photon/bin/devgt-iographics -dldevg-svga.so -I0 -d0x5333,0x8c12”)

My video hardware (Savage S4) is listed on QNX’s Supported Hardware page,
along with the driver, so I could even load it manually if I could get at
least to a command prompt.

Please help!
Eddie

Hi Eddie,

We do not support S3 Savage chipsets in laptops. You may be
able to get it to work with one of the generic drivers.

I sent you an email will an attached script that will probe your system
for graphics information. Please run this script from text mode
(Photon must not be running) and send us the generated tar file.

Regards,

Joe

Hi Joe!

The email from you came, but the attachment didn’t – would you mind sending
it again?

Thank you!
Eddie
