QNX 6.2 NC hangs?

I have both a QNX (Non Commercial version) 6.2 CD and a QNX 6.2 floppy. I am
trying to boot these on a laptop our company manufactures. Both the CD and
the floppy are USB attached drives. Both the CD and the floppy start to boot
ok - they get throught the ESC /.altboot and the paragraph message after
that then it displays the message “Hit space bar for boot options” at this
point the boot process stops. I get no futher messages or responses. Hitting
the space bar does nothing. My only option is to hard reboot my laptop.

I have no idea what to do now?

I have tried partition magic, boot magic, and xosl. Currently the only
operating system I have on my hard disk is Caldera DR-DOS. I really don’t
care if I wipe out the whole HD - I just want to get QNX working so as far
as I am concerned at this time it can have the whole 20 gig HD to itself.

Anyone have any ideas on how I can get QNX booted from the CD or the floppy
and then installed on my HD?

thanks

You can’t install through USB devices.

You may be able to install it from Windows (which will read the USB device).
However you won’t be able to install packages from the CD, but you can
install them from internet.

From windows you can copy the CD in ISO format (or use the file you can
download from get.qnx.com) then mount it from within QNX6.

I once ran into a similar problem using an LS-120 floppy drive to install
Linux - the bios would boot from the floppy just fine but once the OS took
over, it couldn’t deal with the LS-120 and the installation hung. Not
particularily useful in this thread but I thought it was kind of
interesting.

cheers,

Kris
