Nedit and Emacs and vedit, Pico

I finally found how to get Pico, by installing sendmail and pine,
but I don’t understand why we are stuck with vi and notepad.

Where the hell is vedit !?!?!?

Wasn’t it port to RtP ?!?

How come Nedit, Pico, Emacs are not obviously
part of the repository in the editor sections ?!

How do we get a license info for Voyager 128-bit ?!

Stupidely, it is part of the full install and as you know,
without the license you cannot procede, unless you go through
all package and find it, to remove the X… else you can’t fully install…

Does the editors (emacs/nedit) have been port to RtP ?

Do you plan to finish the debugger with an included inside IDE,
only the text editor, highlights is missing, with a compile button…

Notepad is much improved if you check it out,
and there are further plans for it, I’ll let
someone else comment on those.

I’ve been told VEDIT is written in assembler,
so it’s unlikely it’ll be ported to RtP.

There’s also another editor Jed which many people like.

Other parties will have to comment on your remaining
questions. You may have a better reponse if
you tone it down and cut out the swearing.

VEDIT is not made by QSSL

nedit and some X editors are ported to Xphoton, AbiWord is ported to Photon.
Try http://qnx.org.ru , software section, or
ftp://ftp.qnx.org.ru:2121/

btw I’ve heard of emacs port.

Yeah, but it looks like WordPad and I don’t very like it.

VEDIT is not made by QSSL

It is made by who ?
And is it possible to get vedit or advanced MS-DOS compatible editor
to QNX RtP is there anybody that wants to work on this ?!?

What I like from vedit or edit is that it works in console pretty well,
pretty fast with many files open at once, a browser, search&replace, etc.

It’s user friendly, much more than emacs or vi could ever be.

nedit is nice but slow compare to vedit or emacs for X…

but emacs and vi, lacks in user friendly browsing and search and replace.
Regexp is not what I call user friendly.

It wasn’t in the full install was it ?

Where can I get it ?

It should just be in the full install.

It installs in /usr/local/bin

If that’s in your path, just type `jed filespec’

I was a VEDIT user, and it was a pretty easy transition. I actually like
it better now.

It has all the qualities you liked in vedit.
