Suddenly for no apparent reason Helpviewer bombed in RTP (“Memory fault
(core dumped)”). When I go into the package manager I can’t remove and
reinstall the documentation part of Neutrino ( I assume that is what is
busted) because it is greyed. So what do I do?

You can try to remove /home/yourusername/.ph/phelp.
But first can you make an archive ( tar -xvf something.tar /home/yourusername/.ph/phelp )
and send it to me?

Well, that didn’t work. And I couldn’t make an archive either. When I type
the command you suggest, I get “Cannot open something.tar: No such file or
directory”. And I can’t look up tar (and it has no usage message), since I
have no helpviewer.
Not having a helpviewer is really cramping my style. I need some help to
reinstall or fix it or whatever. Thanks.

I take it you meant tar -cvf something.tar /home/yourusername/.ph/help
