DiskOnChip

Hi,

I’m attempting to use my DiskOnChip that is connected to an Adastra VNS 686.
I can’t seem to find a driver that is for it. Is there one?

Thanks
Kevin

You have to contact M-System, I think it’s still in Beta.

I’ve been using it for a couple of months or so now and it seems fine. Not
sure when they are going to release it.

When they do it’ll be available from :
http://www.m-sys.com/drivers.asp?PID=2&FAM=doc&FILE=doc2k

If you contact them you may be able to get hold of the beta

That error comes when you try to run a QNX4 binary under Neutrino.

cburgess@qnx.com

or DOS I suspect.

DFormat is a DOS utility.

You need to use fdisk and dinit to create a neutrino filesystem on the
diskonchip.

Oh and by the way the driver (devb-doc) works fine

I’ve been using it for a couple of months without problems. The main pain
was getting files across to start with but I’m using CIFS and qnet with no
probs now and its all very easy.

How do sudden power-off’s affect it?

I havent come across the situation where I’m writing to it and power
vanished if thats what you’re asking. I may do soon though. If I notice out
of the ordinary anything I’ll post it.

In normal use though it seems stable enough…

Actually I’ve just remembered - the RTP version of the fdisk/dinit don’t
seem to work - I had to use the Neutrino 2.0 flavours which worked fine -
but this will need to be addressed in RTP.

See the snippet from an earlier posting of mine (subject DiskonChip booting
problems with RTP).

"
Basically the situation now is that I’ve used one of my old neutrino 2.0
boot images (on floppy) which just has fdisk/dinit on and i’ve run both of
these on the device so that i have an empty qnx4 filesystem as built by
neutrino 2.0.

I’ve then used my boot image created on RTP to get qnet running and copied
all the required libraries/binaries to the mounted filesystem on the
diskonchip. Finally copied the RTP created boot image to /diskonchip/.boot
and it boots.

Looks like something fishy between neutrino 2.0 and RTP versions of
fdisk/dinit maybe??

"
As of yet no response to this :frowning:

Any ideas?

I just got this form m-systems:

:Hello,

:Thanks for your recent request. The Neutrino driver is not yet available as
:there was a major bug reported where on unexpected/improper shut downs, will
:trash the DiskOnChip. The fix is being worked on, however no official date
:of release has been confirmed yet.

:I apologize for the inconvenience.
