I have QNX RTP installed on the second ide drive on the second
ide chain. The installation went flawlessly. Booting, however,
is a problem… I get:
Press ESC to boot alternate OS…C
And that’s it… It stops at the C and locks the machine… I’ve
created a bootfloppy as if I had QNX RTP installed on the windows
partition, and can boot off that, however I’d much rather not depend
on a boot floppy.
Thanks My bad… Thought I had thoroughly checked all
the usual sources… I guess I’ll rearrange my drives and put it on the
primary ide chain. Thanks again.

This is true, the QNX bootloader can’t boot the OS from secondary IDE.
Most recent BIOS’s however, will let you do this. For example in my
Award bios (pIII) there is a “boot” section which allows me to choose
which IDE device gets booted from. This means every time you want to
boot a different OS I go into the BIOS and change this setting.

Except that QNX wouldn’t boot even when I moved the drive to the primary
IDE chain. It still stops at the same place.
I did move the drive to the primary ide chain (secondary drive on
it) and it still stops booting at the same point.
Try reinstalling it. It may have written something into the boot loader
indicating it should be on the 2nd ide controller even though it wouldn’t be
able to boot it there anyway?
