Does anyone possibly know whether the 6.1.0 release
installs on a non-pci, scsi (aha2) system wo. making a custom
boot image?

Yes, with the 6.1.0 Beta, you can do this… I just installed on a
aha4 only (no EIDE) 486. The only thing special I had to do was create a
boot floppy off of the CD because my BIOS didn’t support CD booting:
-or- use the qmakedsk.exe util from the cd if you’re in windows

Yup, it does. See my “Results with 6.1 beta” post. If you’re actually
planning on doing stuff with such a system you’ll have plenty of
time to go do other stuff. Photon isn’t going to match the speed
of a GUI from the time period of the old hardware. (Ie, Windows 3.0)
But it shore is purty. 'Course if you just want QNX for CLI stuff…
