Physical Layer Requirements for qnet

What are the physical-layer networking requirements for qnet? i.e. if I
have 2 cards in a chassis, both running QNX6.1, what would be the best way
to “connect” them? Will qnet run over a ppp connection? Does it require
ethernet?

Thanks,

Issam

Currently, QNET rides on “ethernet” or “ip”, (ethernet default).
So if you have ip connection between 2 nodes, you could have
QNET talking thought them (bind=ip).

QNET do not have “physical-layer requirement”, if you wish to
rides QNET on “xyz”, you would be able to follow io-net rules
(network DDK) to write up a “QNET-xyz converter”, and a “xyz
producer”.

When you say, “rides over ip”, does this mean that if I create a ppp
connection between two machines, qnet can “ride” over it?

: Yes.

You should just have to run ‘io-net -pqnet bind=ip …’

Thanks! Just what I needed…
