.info. within the .iso image

Hi, all:

Here is a question which may not be suitable for this group, just in case
that some of you are familiar with ISO9660 image.

When creating an ISO9660 image by using mkisofs, a directory called .info.
is always generated automatically, this directory contains the following
files:

ls

… effective system
application modification volume
creation rrip

I would like to know:

  1. What are these files/directory used for?

  2. How to get rid of them? What will happen if they are removed?
