Undel, unerase for QNX6?

I accidently delete files with “rm -f”, and I made not backups,
can anyone help me find a utility for QNX6 to recover the lost text files?

mk

There are several QNX4 utilities for ‘undeleting’ files. Can you run a QNX4
executable? I don’t know if they’ve ported any of this to QNX6 yet.

BUT, be aware, don’t write ANYTHING to that file system where the deleted
files were on or you risk overwriting parts of your deleted files.

If you deleted your own file, you are out of the luck.
If you accidently delete the system file (anything belones
to package file system), you can always do a:

/usr/sbin/pkgctl -r

to bring them back.

I am looking for a port of those utilities.
I would port it myself, but I can’t find the sources.

No quite out of luck.
Since QNX6 uses the QNX4 file system,
I took the “root.qfs” file and copied it to a partition (“cp root.qfs
/dev/hd077a”) under a QNX4 node,
and ran the QNX4 undel (unerase) tool, and recoverd most of my lost files.
But still, it would be nice to have undel for QNX6! I wonder where the
source is?

Try http://quics.qnx.com/cgi-bin/search/usr/free/?srch=undelete&select=1

Hi Marcin,

Are you talking about QNX 6 (QNX RTP)? I downloaded that utility, but it is not ELF format. Also
there is no source in .gz. UNDEL for RTP is REQUIRED.Unfortunately I have no QNX4 and I do not wish
illegal use of QSSL products. (Can I obtain QNX 4 bootable floppy in order to recover few files on
my QNX RTP partition?)

Thanks,
Eduard.

Sorry there is no source code in there ;(. Unfortunately I can’t provide you with
a bootable floppy, licensing issues. I’ll try to find out who wrote this application,
and if possible get the source code.

Marcin

QSSL: Once upon a time the source was available on QUICS/user/free.

Unfortunately I think that a lot of usful stuff that was on /usr/free has
disappeared over the years.

It’s not difficult  Here is info from undel binary:

and if possible get the source code.

It would be nice to have public source or binary|package for RTP. BTW there are few useful tools
alongside undel on ftp, but they are for QNX4 too.

Thank you in advance.
Eduard.

If someone is interested in porting undel to QNX6, e-mail me directly and
I’ll send you the source.
