Still supporting QNX version 2.21 using DPT SmartCache controller and disk mirroring modules. I installed a “new” drive (massive 344 meg Micropolis ESDI) and am receiving “error fffe” when I attempt to format the drive. Followed proper procedure for mount using “disk.at” driver, fdisk, etc.
Anyone have any idea what the issue could be? The manual doesn’t have much in the way of error messages for fdformat. Thanks.
Sorry to ask what may be a stupid question, but why are you using fdformat to format a fixed disk? Does QNX recognise it as a floppy?
I have the same problem with this fdformat 3 +h. The problem is the hard drive. I suggest you to look for a MFM drive. The Warnning in fdformat says you should never format an RLL, ESDI, SCSI or IDE hard drive with this utility. I do have luck to have a IMB drive (H3171-A2 171 MB) working even I got warning that this is not a MFM drive.
