can't resolve names to IPs

Greeting,

both my QNX-6.1 systems are unable to resolve names to IPs. I can ping
both name servers; their IPs are correct (since FreeBSD and Windows
boxes have no problems with these nameservers). However, when I execute:

ping www.freebsd.org

on either of QNX-6.1 boxes, ping hangs. They apparently fail to resolve
www.freebsd.org’ to 216.136.204.21.

I am connected to Internet via Cisco 827 router running NAT.

When I boot QNX-4.25 on that system (with exactly the same /etc/resolv.cof),
I have no problems with DNS.

Here is the some relevant info:

uname -a

QNX unix-1 6.1.0 2001/08/10-15:17:25edt x86pc x86

cat /etc/resolv.conf

domain primus.ca
nameserver 216.254.141.3
nameserver 209.90.160.221

This file is identical to the one on FreeBSD boxes.

Can you post what the output of “getconf RESOLVE” ? Also, try using the
photon utility phlip to configure your network settings and see if that
improves the situation.

[AndrayK 2]. Thanks a lot, Adam. I understand that /etc/net.cfg overrides
the /etc/resolv.conf, hence the problem. Once I updated /etc/net.cfg
using ‘phlip’, name resolution problem went away.

best regards,
Andray
