Netboot Server

Setting netboot service in QNX 4.2x it’s possible to respond to the boot
request from another computer. Presently, I am looking for a similar service
under QNX 6.1. Is it possible to set QNX 6.1 computer as netboot server?

Thanks in advance for your help

Yes, check the documentation on bootpd and bootptab. Unlike QNX4
proprietary netboot method, bootp is a “standard” method.

You will net a bootp rom in your network card.

Can I use any boot ROM network card?

Is there any requirement for boot ROM?

Not any boot ROM, you need a bootp boot ROM.
For example the boot rom used with QNX4 netboot will not work.

I installed standard 3Com (3C509) network card with bootp ROM and it’s

working now.

Hi,

I have been trying to get netboot to work. If it is not too much
trouble, could you post some information about the process you
went through…e.g. your build file, where you got the boot rom
for the 3com card…I know how to set up bootp servers and such,
I just need to qnx specifics.

Thanks,
Carlton
