If I understand you correctly you want to run a “HyperTerminal” type
application on the QNX side. Try qtalk, which comes with QNX.
If what you want to do is the other way around, look at tinit documention.
The format is as follows:
qtalk -b,,, -m <SerialPort
For example to connect thru serial port 1:
qtalk -b 9600,8,n,1 -m /dev/ser1
The help docs have more info on qtalk.
Hope this helps!

I need to connect to a Qnx rtp system with a terminal emulation program
like Hyperterminal ) connected through serial port 1 or 2.
Could someone help me to find informations on how to setup the qnx part?
I have tried tinit and stty settings but nothing comes up form the serial
port.
It is working because I can redirect on /dev/ser1 and see text being shown
in hyperterminal.
Furthermore some knowledgebase articles are related to old os versions and
does not seem to be working on rtp.
Does anybody knows where to look for updated docs on this issue?

Make sure you select QNXRTP during your search.

If you have 6.1A you have the latest publicly avaiable stuff.
There was a thread a few weeks ago about somebody doing just that,
can’t find it though ;-(

tinit docs are the right plce to look, I think there is a mention of
/etc/ttys or /etc/config/ttys.
You could also explicitly run a ksh on /dev/serx then you should be able to
connect directly over a serial line using hyperterminal set up for direct
connect.
Now if you want to use a modem then this is another complexity that 6.1 does
not handle very elegantly.
HI LB,
If you want to login with hyperterminal or any other terminal emulator
excepting TigerTerm, there is a problem on terminal initialisation with
tinit.
Look at the ‘login on serial port’ thread for more informations.
regards,
Alain.
