How to mount root.qfs via SMB/CIFS ?

Hi
Can I somehow mount root.qfs from another comp running Win98 via SMB/CIFS
share?

Under QNX6.2 NC I try

#fs-cifs file://<host_name>::/<share_name> /x <user_name>
#mount -t qnx4 “/x/Program Files/qnx/boot/fs/root.qfs” /remote

but get error at mount execution. Remote resource is mounted fine. I can
“ls” it but can’t mount root.qfs via that share.
What wrong?

Hi

You cannot mount some file if its path is remotely mounted via
conventional schemes (ala CIFS/NFS etc). This is true for other
OSs too! apparantly, mount looks for a file that can be accessed as a
block device… which a remotely mounted FS can’t do!

OT: In qnx however, you can mount a file remotely accessible via native QNET
networking… (mount /net/remote/path/root.qfs /remote_qfs) since QNET
operate at lowest level and raw mesages are transferred between the two
machines.
