Does any body know how close cdrecord is to being ported to QNX 6.x?

Whatever happened with “cdrecord” for QNX? The web site
for “cdrecord” has said “QNX port underway” for years.
That may have discouraged others from working on the problem.
Anybody planning to finish the job?

At first I made smake downloaded from that address and then i used smake
to compile cdrtools (mkisofs, cdrecord etc.)

I’ve downloaded source code from
gd.tuwien.ac.at/utils/schilling/smake/alpha/ I had no problem to make it.

One question about cdrecord,
Don’t you need mkiso to actually create the image that is burnt to CD?
According to the CDrecord web site you need smake to compile the cdtools
package that has mkiso in it and I don’t have any idea where to get that
from. Is there a place you can get the QNX binary for smake, or mkiso?

In the context of CD-RW support you don’t really need SE/PE. All you

need

is

a rebuilt standard boot image. Anyone with SE/PE could put one up for
download… I suppose it would not be illegal, right? >

Hello!

Seems the beta was cancelled, and noone knows will we have 6.2.1NC or
no. I do hope we will, cause I am NC user.

a quick glance of the page seems to tell:

  1. you have to be running non NC version.
  2. you have to run 6.2.1 version.
    is that correct?
of course, there is no 6.2.1NC anyway >

Ok I got everything to compile and have been playing with mkisofs…
I actually got a cd to burn as well. I have Rockridge extension on and get
lots of errors trying to
mkisofs for QNX directory structures. I was getting errors such as file
xxxx already exist when there
was only one copy of file xxxx and nothing that even truncates to the same
name.
What flags do other people use?

That could be a problem with QNX’s qsort. If you look in
mkisofs/write.c:compare_dirs() try inserting ‘if(rr == ll) return 0;’ at
the top.

Did anyone else have this problem? If there’s actually a bug in the
software then it needs to be fixed for the QNX version to work correctly
then other people should be seeing the same thing.
I thought I had just used the wrong flags or something. How many other
people are using mkisofs?

You may be running into file/directory tree overlay problems due to the
package manager facilities. I would suggest using the .qfs (file system
within a file) solution that was suggested in another thread in this news
group. Sadly, I wasn’t able to get this concept working with Qnx4, but I
know it does work very well with Qnx6. One other way we have been able to
get a workable CD file system for Qnx6 was to demangle the packages into a
flat file/directory tree via pax.

I was trying to back up user directories with source code developed at our
site only, I’m not trying to back up the any thing
that should have be part of a package just files that we created.
Again, has anyone else had problems? Who else using this? And what is
there experience?
Are they going to include the updated drivers in a patch or so we can use it
“out of the box?”

I was successful with CD-ROMs and CD-RWs on a

PIONEER DVR-104 (EIDE)

(so QSSL could add this to their ‘supported’ list  )

This cdrecord-version obviously doesn’t support DVDs yet, I think the
special ‘cdrecord-ProDVD’ version has to be used, then.

Has anybody been successful with DVDs, yet?
