USB Cameras

Dear All

Has anyone had any experience with interfacing a USB camera to 6.2. We are
looking at using this in an industrial environment, but this should not be
any different than one sitting on someones PC. We couldm be interested in
buying drivers for this camera if they are available, or adapting a driver
to our own camera of choice.
Any help in this area would be appreciated.

I’m working away at interfacing FireWire cameras to QNX.
That seems to be the future of cameras; the newer ones are
mostly FireWire.

I’m currently using the Mindready low-level driver
package (which talks to the chipset, but not much
else), the Linux DC1394 package (which understands how
to command a camera), and writing a QNX resource manager
to glue them together.

Cool!
Hi John, I am very interested in the Firewire stuff, could you send more
information? Do you have a working driver?

I’m still working on it. Right now, the bus inventory machinery
works, and all the devices appear in a directory, but I’m not
reading from the cameras yet.

I’m using the Mindready LLA package at the bottom, but that
actually does so little that I may rewrite to eliminate it.
I’m using code from “dc1394” for Linux to format the commands
to the cameras. That’s LGPL code, so licensing won’t be a problem.

Wait a few weeks.

We recently went through the QNX Mindready Camera implementation as well.
Although it took a bit to realize what was where, agree the MindReady API
is a chipset level API. Things finally came together. Are you still working
on the Mindready stuff or have you tried to move to your owm implementation?
