devc-ser8250 problems

QNX6.21 patch A, PC Pentium; a problem with reliability of serial line
driver detected:
A program is reading data from serial line device. After some time ( f.g. a
week) data flow stops.
Restart of devc-ser8250 is necessary.

Does anyone have the same experience, how to isolate the problem?

There are two things I would try:

  • Check if h/w flow control settings. Settings have to be the same on both
    sides, I would begin with h/w flow control disabled;
  • Ignore docs and explicitly disable FIFO with ‘-t0’ option.

IMHO I think there is a problem with the driver. I am experiencing the same
symptoms, but it varies according to hardware. I have found that ‘-t 8’
option and ‘-C 1024’ helps.

What baud rate are you running at?

First we registered the problem with modem connection at 115200 Baud. With
our testing connection at 1200 Baud the problems appeared too.
