Problem: Using LOGNAME to bypass login screen

When I try to set LOGNAME=root (say) in /etc/rc.d/rc.local,
the login screen is bypassed, but then the backdrop is messed
up (black). The shelf is ok. The taskbar is also messed up (as I
recall, I don’t have it in front of me unfortunately).
root and the non-root user I tried was tried with & without
passwords.

The problem is that you haven’t setup an evironment. You are better off logging in and then calling ph.

This is for an embedded application without a keyboard.
Photon 1.14 & QNX4 does this perfectly…

Hello Alex

First create a dummy user with no password. Then in your rc.local file place the command
login -f dummy. Finally in the dummy users .profile script put the “ph” command.
