Hi Mooz,
Brenda:
This could be very helpful to users. You should submit it to the QNX
section of the tucows site for others to access.
Paul M:
dont forget the Phoenix partner site http://www.qnxstart.com Brenda,
after all it is probably the first place most new RTP coders/users go
after http://get.qnx.com
id also like to propose again that the powers that be in charge of this inn.qnx news feed setup a/several binary NewsGroup(s) here so that any future code Mooz and other generous 3rd partys/qnx personel would like to contribute for the education of new RTPers wishing
to find small self contained working base code to build on can find
and discuse it here.
while Tucows is now carrying RTP and that is a good thing, personally
i`v only ever looked there the first time it was announced, its to
wintel styled for my tastes (Tucows is no fledgling AmiNet) and my
prefered way to archive new information and apps is through
these/Other Closed newsgroups or FTP to qnxstart.
i dont see any real size problems in setting up such a binary newsgroup
here given the relative (i assume ?) small sized code any such
RTP/photon base Mooz and others might contribute, the only real
question is would you 3rd partys be willing to upload your working
code snippets for others here wishing to learn from your code and
does anyone think my proposal is a good and valid one that could
progess in to a new AmiNet style RTP||et given some willingness
on all concerned here to help progess this new Platform.
P.s
thanks for your reply to my make Photon hello wount make HELP
post (last week) Brenda, iv not got around to post on that thread yet but i thought i made it clear there (at the end) that i had read and reread the current Progammers Guide/Introduction trying to assertain how a new user might compile simple things like my examples or the Pt.h based Hello.c as per that post/thread but allas there is not currently enough info in the Guide (at least from my POV) to help the likes of me hence my cry for help for the many readers here, unfortunatly it seems that eather everyone other that your good self missed my post or it was so silly from their advanced POV that it didnt even warrent a reply, i thought that at least 1 or 2 new users might also have tryed following the examples given and had problems or advice were im going
wrong and give an overview or even better a full walkthrough of how
these simple sample apps/tests might be made to compile.
please understand im not after a full tutorial in RTP Photon codeing and style (if someone wants to do one on shell app 2 Photon Gfx though ill be reading it very carfully LOL), just a good base and
pointers from a newby POV, at the very least id have hoped that the more vocal readers would have posted some pros/Cons on why Photon apps apparently cant be easly compiled if that code hasnt been
generated by Phab, perhaps its better/improved in the newer 6.1 ?.
as a side note i still dont see any sigh of an RTP StyleGuide
along the lines of the Amiga styleGuide when that was first
releases many Years ago, would anyone inside QNX be considering
working on such a document ?, if not are the 3rd partys
here (developers and users alike) willing/wanting such a StyleGuide
and are willing to work out the spec and contibute in whatever
field you feel happy with ?, just a few thoughts anyway.
im going to shut up now LOL, please reply in my other post if its in relation to why im an id-yat and this is how
you compile/convert your simple app, or its not a simple app even
though it looks it and this is the reason why, type replys.
Regards
Brenda

Hi!
Just thought I’d mention I made code and a tutorial on
making dockable child windows in Photon apps.
They work pretty much like MDI windows in Windows™,
so they stay inside their container all the time.
The code is free and you can use it in your programs
if you wish. Screenshots are included on the page.
It’s just a first test release so please report
any problems.
