Xphoton screen size

Hello !

We are currently having problems with Xphoton - it inform us about
wrong screen dimension (16383x16383 pixels). It looks like Xphoton
have virtual screen size, not the real size of the screen.

For example run ‘xdpyinfo’ with DISPLAY initialized to the computer
which run QNX6 and photon.

The same size (16383x16383) we are receiving in our X programs
running on this Xphoton display. So the geometry is broken.

Is there any other method of retrieving the size of the physical screen
?

No not broken, just an unfortunate design flaw. Xphoton really does have a
root window 16k x 16k. This was done so that it can tile the top level
X windows (if they are obscured in X, they won’t draw in Photon)

Nope, not with the current Xphoton. There is a new version that reports
the Photon screen size but it hasn’t been scheduled for testing yet

Ok. That’s mean that current Xphoton is unusable, very slow and buggy.

And no one QNX user can’t use (normally) X11-applications in Photon
session.

Great work. And what should I do ? Suggest to all our users to use
Windows X-servers and X-servers on the other computers
(Linux/FreeBSD/Solaris),
where our X-application runs without problems ?

We are very need the usable Xphoton.
We can test new version of Xphoton when it will be available.

Hi Alexey,

Unfortunately there is no time line set for the newer version of
Xphoton without the limitations on the screen size. We are working on a
solution for the current design limitation but it is not a high priority
at this time.
