Strange mouse acceleration

Hi!

OK, this is probably a very individual thing but to me the mouse
pointer acceleration feels very strange in QNX6. I use screen
resolution 1280x1024 and don’t like to move my hand very much.
It seems that the pointer continues to accelerate at faster
movements resulting in the mouse “hitting the walls” of the
screen very easily, totally overshooting the target. No matter
how I adjust the Speed/Acceleration settings.

Both in Windows and Linux/X11 I stay in control. The acceleration
formula seems a bit to simplistic in QNX6.

Anyone else have the same experience?

I agree. Even if you move slowly the mouse, if you set the accelleration
to 2, your mouse will move by two pixels each time.
Actually, My settings are: accelleration 2, speed 0. And that’s still
ugly to manage.

Hi,
I agree with what you say, mouse settings depend A LOT on the individual
but I actually I experience something similar to what you describe; I have
made the comparison between different OS’s:

in Windows (res=1600x1200 btw) I use:
Acceleration = OFF
Speed = MAX
These are my favorite settings of all (as a side effect, nobody else can
seem to bear using the mouse on my workstation :wink:

QNX and Mac OS (9)
I use:
acceleration = minimum
speed = bit less than the middle
This is kind of ok but still the mouse movements somehow feel “wrong”; I
have the feeling that even if I set the accleration to the lowest level
there is always A BIT of mouse acceleration active in QNX, (anybody can
confirm it?).
I’d really like if there was a way to turn acceleration completely so I
could make the comparison.

Mac OS X
Didn’t bother checking the mouse settings yet because I’ve been too busy
playing around with toys/gadgets/itunes/i-this-and-that etc ;–)

Cheers,
Luigi
