I thought Gimp would surely do this but it doesn’t seem to.
Actually Gimp does read/write tiffs provided libtiff is installed first.
Doh!
So, to answer the original question, Gimp is on the 3rd party CD and will
both display tiffs and convert them to other file formats.
Warning: you need X to use Gimp, which in this case means either XPhoton on
the VGA console or an external X server. (Gimp doesn’t work with Xphoton,
and XPhoton doesn’t work with Phindows).

XPhoton doesn’t work with phindows? Since phindows needs $$ and I don’t
have a copy, anyone else can confirm?
On the other hand, to remotely run X apps like Gimp on qnx, you can
use the free VNC (there is MS Windows vnc client at http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/download.html
so you don’t have to purchase phindows to install on your MS Windows box.
My understanding is you use phindows because you want to remotely
run Photon apps on qnx. (which can be achieved through VNC and phinx,
but that’s a different subject. and if you have the money, phindows
is a preferred way of running photon apps remotely …)

My experience is definitely that XPhoton doesn’t work satisfactorily with
Phindows.
(To reiterate and to avoid confusion, I do NOT have the same problems with
Xphoton, but Xphoton doesn’t cut it for gimp/dia (etc) and even has problems
with ddd).
But I don’t see this as an issue at all.
If I am sitting on a Win32 box and want to run a Photon app from a QNX box I
use Phindows.
If I want to run an X application from the same QNX box I just run an X
server on my Win32 box (such as Cygwin/XFree86 or XWin32) and export DISPLAY
accordingly.
I use this set-up every day - Phindows for PhAB and Cygwin/XFree86 for ddd.
I suppose that, having installed the X server on my Win32 box, I could use
Phinx instead of Phindows but I haven’t tried that. I also haven’t tried VNC
because I am happy enough with what I have.

Acctually, gimp + XPhoton works excellent, i’m using that combination
every time i’m using gimp.
there was some issues with the old XPhoton, but the new one that is with
6.2 has no such problems.
Thanks for the tips – I’ll give Gimp a shot. By the way, I am not
aware of the “3rd party” CD. Perhaps this is something that came
with 6.2 – we are running 6.1. Or, maybe this is something that I
can download from their web site somewhere ???

Is anyone aware of an image viewer for RTP that can display
TIFF images? PV doesn’t appear to accomodate TIFFs.
Or, is anyone aware of a converter that runs under RTP that is able
to convert TIFF images into other formats such as JPEG (whcih PV can
display)?
Thanks in advance!

Almost all applications there are compiled for 6.2 and might therefor
not work in 6.1, but you can give it a try, you can download the iso from: http://www.qnx.com/developer/download/contrib/
