how to set resolution for true type fonts

hi

I try to set the resolution for true type fonts. The docs say I have to
use the fontadmin-tool to make modifications on config-files like fontopt
but there’s no such entry anywhere. The fontadmin only dipslays a
resolution value of 96dpi…? Is the -R flag to phfont that could be used
to set this? Nothing changes when I set this flag directly in
/usr/photon/font_repository/fontopt :frowning:

thanks!

Hello,

They disabled that option for some reason in fontadmin.
You have the wrong command line argument, you want -r :

-r Screen resolution for TTF scalable font rasterization (default 96dpi)
-R Screen resolution for PFR scalable font rasterisation (default 72dpi)

Remember that all the delta-hints are specific to a resolution and point
size, so if you change the resolution, things may not look as nice.

Also, current versions of Photon microGUI do not handle font size changes too
graciously. If your system will be closed, and you do not use any standard
Photon applications, then this will not be an issue for you.

If you are doing all the font handling yourself within your application,
and only want the resolution to affect your application, you can use
PfRenderCx and use the PF_FRACTIONAL flag, passing point sizes in 16.16
for adata/bdata.

Regards.
