I downloaded VisualAge Micro Edition 1.3 from the www.embedded.oti.com
website. I downloaded the Linux version with the .tar.gz file. The
installation instructions include using rpm (redhat package manager).
However, rpm is not supported by QNX6.1.0. So i download the rpm utility
for QNX from
ftp://ftp.qnx.org.ru/pub/system_tools/utils/rpm-3.0-qnxnto-bin.tar.gz (or
was it
…ftp://ftp.qnx.org.ru/pub/system/tools/utils/rpm-3.0-qnxnto-bin.tar.gz
? -can’t check as don’t have internet access readily available - crazy
company policy) Unzipping this file is no problem. taring the file doesn’t
work because there are a couple of errors because of the packages that are
in repositories that i, as root, cannot do a chown on.
Two questions then:
- Has anyone installed VisualAge Micro Edition 1.3 on QNX6.1.0? If so,
how?
- Has anyone installed the rpm utility? If so, how?

I think you are referring to the development (IDE) part of VisualAge
Micro Edition? If so, this will not run on QNX. There are runtimes
available for QNX, but not the IDE itself (yet).

The runtime is now available with QNX 6.1 directly. However, this is
VisualAge Micro Edition 1.3. You can download the newest 1.4 from
embedded.oti.com
