anyone used Nedit

has anyone used Nedit?? I tried it… it looks nice, but when I hit
‘backspace’ key, it doesnt delete, instead puts . Also, How do I open
up multiple files in split window? It seems like it opens up the same files
over and over again whenever split window is selected. There are other few
bugs…if anyone used, I would like to get some hints on how to using it.

Additional files are opened in new windows. But you can easily

transfer (cut and paste) between the windows. See the manual or
online help.
At Nedit.org you can download the manual for instructions on how it is
supposed to work.
I have noticed occasional insertion of <…> characters instead of the
desired action those characters are supposed to cause.
Good Luck,

I use nedit.

I have no idea what is causing your backspace problem (it has always
worked as expected for me); as for the split windows, I have always
assumed, that if one splits a window it is because one wishes to see two
parts of the the file at the same time (I find it useful for referring
to manifests declared at the top of a file, while I work further into
the file in another pane). If you want multiple files open, simply open
new windows. This behavior makes sense to me.

My up/down, left/right arrow and number keys on the right don’t seem to
work, along with the backspace, …hm…
Can you guys give the exe for Nedit? Along with any config files…only
one I know is .nedit resides in /root
thank you guys.
I desperately need a editor to work…
