Is the Portable Networks Graphics (png) format not supported by Voyager (and
the Image Viewer).
If so, when will it be supported?

I wrote a simple image viewer plugin that adds BMP and PNG support to
Voyager. You can download
it as a package from http://www.nexwarecorp.com/respository (sorry for the
advertisement) The plugin
uses the PxLoadImage function so it does not support many of the features of
PNG such as animation, etc.
A more complete implementation could be done based on the standard libpng
library, I have used it
coupled with other simple PNG image viewers under XPhoton and it works quite
well.
