Problem configuring Photon display

Please help! I installed QNX on a Sony Vaio Laptop with a 14.1" XGA
display, and the GUI only takes up about 1/2 of the entire screen (in
the center of the screen). When I try to change the display
configuration, the display either quits working or nothing changes,
depending on what setting I try to apply.

This is the 6th time I have installed QNX on a computer (desktop and
laptop) and I’ve never seen this before. Is the graphics card not
supported by QNX? or am I missing something?

Thanks,
Eric

Hi Eric,

Can you post the output from ‘show_pci -v’ so we can see what the graphics chipset of the labtop is.

Regards,

Joe

Attached is the output in a text file (DOS format). If the video card wasn’t supported, would I still
get the display at 1/2 the screen size?
Thanks,
Eric

I believe that Photon will also get away with using dumb VGA mode,
640x480x4, if it can’t find something better. That may be what you are
seeing.

Hi Eric,

The video in your laptop is the Intel I815 which should be
supported in the latest release (May 2001) or with the
December graphics beta. Whether you are using that driver
or a generic driver it probably will not affect the size
of the display. There may be a BIOS setting or on some
laptops there is a special function key to switch the font
from large size (entire display) to small size (1/2 display
centered on screen)

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Joe
