Photon Printer Setup, BMP

Hi,

I’m trying to use the properties for the BMP printer driver (Photon Printer
Setup). I select 24 bit, click on apply and then save. When I get back it
still says 8 bit. Why? What did I do wrong?

Where “exactly” do you specify the ‘-c1’ for Pp.bmp? I have tried to put
this in the ‘/usr/photon/print/printers’ file.

Filter = Pp.bmp -c1

This doesn’t work!

TIA

Augie

Hi Augie,

Did you specify -cl(el) or -c1(one)…? I believe it should be one.

The spot that you specified it in the filter line should be correct.

Regards
Brenda

I used the -c1 (one) not -cl (el).

What am I still doing wrong?

This one works for me. Just out of curiousity what editor did you use

The dialog for snapshot selection for the 8 bit and 24 bit is broken. A
workaround could be to create two entries in the
/usr/photon/print/printers file one that passes the -c1 and the other
that passes -c3. You could title these as 24bit and 8bit respectively.

I have the same in my file .

What version of snapshot are you running?

The ‘Filename = /tm/printer_filename’ never creates a file in the /tmp
directory. Why?

Also, I was able to generate two capture files for the entire screen, one
using the ‘-c1’ and one using the ‘-c3’. I removed the extra ‘-c1’ and
‘-c3’ from the file name section. In any case I was able to generate files
which have different sizes. It seems to work.

The problem is that when I switch from the ‘-c1’ to ‘-c3’ and vice-versa,
the file size for the first file created would indicate that the option is
not working for the first occurence after the switch. Why? Did you see
this too?

This one works for me. Just out of curiousity what editor did you use

See attached printers file from my /usr/photon/print directory.

I’m using snapshot from the latest Photon 1.14 release (sep 14 1999, 47663).

I don’t know why you keep mentioning a typo and the ‘-cl’ (el). I’m not
using this. I’m using ‘-c1’ (one). Okay?

When I put the print option after the Pp.bmp driver, this also shows up in
the file name section for snapshot (in fact it doesn’t matter what I put
there). If I create the file as is, then I get a “print1.bmp -c1” file. It
sounds like something is not passing the ‘-c1’ option correctly and it’s
getting into the filename section.

If this doesn’t happen for you and you have a newer version of snapshot,
then e-mail it to me so I can try it here. Please .

Also, I was able to generate two capture files for the entire screen,

This ‘future release’ stuff is no good. This is a small fix, as I see it,
and there should be something posted for this, ASAP.

I don’t want to be rude here, but there have been too many ‘future release’
fixes which have never been addressed :frowning:.
