PtList - data in blocks

Hi,

Is there a way to supply the data to a PtList
in blocks? I want to display a large file in a
PtList but only in small blocks at a time,
ie: move through the file up or down and fill the
list accordingly.

Tom.

Hi, Tom.

Are you interested in the idea of only displaying small bits of data, or are
you interested in the ability to scroll through your data? If the scrolling
is the aspect of interest, then maybe a PtMultiText widget might suit you
better.
But, I am not sure what is the nature of the data in this file, so I don’t
know if this suggestion is helpful.

Regards.

Rodney,

The data is a txt file, sometimes large 200,000+ lines. How much data can
a
PtMultiText hold?

Tom.

Tom,

I don’t believe there is any hard-coded limit. Take a look at the example
for one of the PtMultiText widget’s convenience functions called
PtMultiTextGetAttributes() ( as well as reading up on the PtMultiText
yourself .
The storage for the text ( I believe ) is still up to you. I believe that
there is an application called ped which comes with Photon that apparently
uses the PtMultiText widget. I opened up a 9000+ line file without
difficulty.

Regards.
