Please help!

I just downloaded QNX and am impressed by it. When using the dialer however,
it will not detect my modem, well, it wont detect the port my modem is
connected to (Com 2.) Com 2 works fine in Windows and everything so I was
wondering if there is some command I need to put in my start up “file” to
get it recognising it. Or, is my modem a win modem and so it wont work? If
so is there a patch to allow QNX to access it?

Also, if worst comes to the worst can I access my QNX work space from
windows, so atleast I will be able to download/upload things written in QNX

Sorry this is a bit basic, please help,

Nick

Hiya. First off, this newsgroup is specifically for questions regarding
developing network interface device drivers using the network driver
development kit (DDK), so you’re a little off-topic. Probably newusers or
installation would be a better place to post this sort of question. That
said, be aware that QNX does not support any WinModems. So if you’ve got an
internal modem card that masquerades as COM2 and you can’t access it, it’s
probably a WinModem. Basically to save money the manufacturer has left the
UART and associated DSP hardware off of the card and provided Windows
drivers that do the crunching and communication. Since QNX can’t run
Windows drivers, you’re S.O.L.

That’s the usual scenario, at any rate. YMMV.
